My Nation: Incredible India

Think of India and what comes to our minds is the population in billions, Multilingual, varied cultures & religions but all under one belongingness called Indians. In a true sense, we all represent with profoundness, our nation called India. Most of the time we are surrounded by evils (internally or externally) that cause detrimental effects to our country, society as well as to the minds of the people. Every day brings in news on corruption, bomb blasts, terrorist & naxal attacks, regionalism and may more. We have developed resilience towards every evil in the society; but these factors have never led down the morals of our people. We wake up looking forward with positive attitude, enthusiasm and loads of energy. Even though we fight in the name of religion, we also commemorate some religions like “cricket” and “movies” where our nation’s win is a unified enjoyment. This unified moment of enjoyment is what brings all Indians to their truest spirit. In every corner of our nation, a small India exists where people from various parts of our country stay in harmony. We rejoice together every festival of our country although being varied in culture, language, ethnicity, etc.; we are united because we respect each other in every term. These differences are what keeps us united.  Yes, it is the feeling of oneness that India, our Incredible India shares.
Indians leave no stone unturned be it in technology, education, sports or medicine. We have great leaders in different fields right from the TATAs to Ambanis and from Sachin Tendulkar to Abhinav Bindra and many more. India being the second biggest in population is much ahead in terms of literacy and education than the other emerging countries. India is the most preferred destination for medical tourism and affordable medical treatment with world class facilities and advanced treatment procedures.
Yes, it is agreed that India being the largest democratic country in the world has many loopholes. Current scenario of our country seems devastating, but it is the people of our country, India, who are still together united against corruption, scams and scandals. Every citizen of our country is rising and showing support towards anti-corruption, development and transparency. RTI has been a boon to the people of our country making every authority being accountable of his work and responsibility.
As our country is celebrating its 65th Independence Day, every citizen must ensure that democracy should be followed and respected at grass root level. Politics has turned to be the most hated word amongst citizens of our country. But in reality, Politics is what runs the country and brings prosperity. Politics is a breath of democracy; Politics indicates democracy. Politics tell that no one is supreme, but people and that deal of rule has to be according to wish of the people. Every citizen should take part in politics, directly or indirectly.
India adorned with its beautiful geography, rich cultural heritage and people who represent one of the world’s largest democracies will continue to fascinate the entire world with its richness and incredibility.
My India, my nation, truly Incredible!

Trade Secret contract Breached: IIT Kharagpur in mess again

Once again IIT Kharagpur, is in news for violating trade secret norms and conditions.

Yes!!!! This is true.

This case in the Northern District of California, US ,has taken a serious turn. IIT kharagpur and its affiliate technology incubation & entrepreneurship society(TIETS) is being made a party to a case versus another US firm.

The Trade secret contract was signed with IIT kharagpur in the year 2003 with Mandana D Farhang and her affiliate MA Mobile Limited. and it is being alleged to have breached the contract by proving the same information to IBM and Indian Railway. The disputed technology is related to " Mobile computing".
To remind you all that this is The only IIT, where an Law school in the name of Rajiv Gandhi School of Intellectual property Law. Having a school like this, which is well equipped with talented students as well as professors to handle any intellectual property issues/matters, it is not justified to commit an Err on this front.

“IIT Kharagpur” Fishy about pricy Laptops

“Laptop” is the sole reason why a professor of an Institute of National importance is being suspended…astonished..? Yes this is absolutely true. The incident happened in Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
IIT Kharagpur has finally suspended Professor Rajeev Kumar. It feels proud to be part of institution like IIT, either as a student or as a professor. Apart from these it takes hell lot of pain/struggle to be a part of it. The question that arises here that when someone being a part of IIT, can be suspended….? And the reason. Laptops. Sounds wired.

Charges against Prof. Kumar:
1. He had alleged that there is mass copying in IIT Kharagpur. (Though he couldn’t prove it, but still if authorities could come n check during exams {sitting arrangements, no. of faculties in the exam hall etc)
2. He made allegations about some wrong doing in the laptop purchase process of the Institute. [Its duty of every citizen to inform about wrong doing of responsible authorities]

Is he being punished for being a True citizen of our Country…?

Where Fakeinstitutes are being run by authorities of IIT Kharagpur and when IIT Kharagpurdirector can be involved in AICTE scam, what is wrong in it to ask question …? If officials state that the action of Professor Rajeev Kumar has lowered the more of IIT Kharagpur, then the above said actions by authorities has bought the same for the institute. Then in that case, if Professor Rajeev Kumar has to be punished, then all the authorities who are involved in any act which brings down the morale of the institute should be suspended.

Intervention of MHRD had stopped purchases of those laptops. But, is this matter so serious that a Professor of premier institution will be suspended? The malicious action of authorities has raised many questions from various corners of the society.

In this era, where every citizen our country is taking pledge to wipeout corruption from grassroots level by protecting independent directors & whistle blowers, or in the form of RTI ….or by Annagiri , where one single person started the protest against corruption and millions joins hands with him. My question is when entire nation is waking up. Why IIT Kharagpur is sleeping…?

Equation is very simple, if Professor Rajeev Kumar is wrong, put up an inquiry, punish him…if he is right , then punish the person who is guilty…..Why punish to such an person, who has served the nation with dedication? Today it’s Professor Rajeev Kumar; tomorrow it will be someone else. The main and sole reason is India is waking up and it will not tolerate this behavior of authorities. One day it will ask questions and authorities have to answer.

Government/Authorities……...Are you listening…?

Technology Student Gymkhana: The reality

Hey Folks, This post relates to my experience with the administration of Technology Students Gymkhana.

I can bet on anything that majority of students of IIT Kgp do not know what exactly happens inside gymkhana, as in how the administration works. The main reason being we never ask questions. Questions we ought to have asked and the questions we should ask. We have simply taken the administration for granted. There might be a section of students who think why should I even care. My only advice for them is that, every year you contribute a sum of Rs. 200/- to Gymkhana. You may not care about community interest, but how can you ever be disinterested about your own hard earned money?

Being a student of IIT Kharagpur and hence a member of Gymkhana, one particular day I visited gymkhana with some general queries and suggestions. The first thing I noticed was that there is no forum whatsoever and no proper channel to entertain student queries and to address student suggestions and grievances. Maybe the answer lies in the fact that we have always had a laid back attitude and we never demanded for a proper information dissemination forum in Gymkhana. We have always remained contended with a vague oral answer from the administrators and we never bothered to put anything on paper. Anyways I managed to find some officials and put some questions to them. All I wanted was some information and this is the reply I got:-

Mr. S….. , Officer in charge: What do you know about gymkhana..? Do you even know how much work we do day in day out?
Me: What gymkhana is doing to motivate players to perform better in Inter IIT?
Mr. S…..: What we can do? It is up to them, they should come and play. We cannot do anything.
Me: What gymkhana is doing in order to provide incentive to players who won medals for Kgp..? Till now they have not been felicitated…?
Mr.S….: You do not know anything related to gymkhana activities. We have so many important works.
Me: Sir, if you could please inform me about those ‘works’ which is more important than motivating players and providing them recognition and incentives?
Mr S….: Errrrrrrrr…Mmmmmm.
Me: What are your plans to conduct Inter IIT sports meet this year..?
Mr S….: We are very experienced. We will conduct it properly.

Now if this is not disheartening, then what is? Ultimately I managed to get something out of the conversation but was after much persuasion but it was one of the most disgusting experiences I have ever had.

Even the office bearers (Student representatives) have their hands tied as they have become victims of the rotten administration in Gymkhana (More on this in the next edition).

Before I sign out, all I would say is NEVER accept administration as it is. Ask questions and demand answers. If they do not respond pester them until they give a satisfying answer. Whether they are elected or nominated, they are bound to answer simply because of the reason that there sole responsibility is to serve the entire student community of IIT Kgp and they are answerable to each and every concern of yours.

Wished to be a Candidate-TSG 2011

As I am getting a lot of queries regarding me not being a candidate for the current Technology Students Gymkhana – 2011 elections for the position of General Secretary Sports and Games, I wish to state the entire sequence of events to clarify on the speculations and to avoid assumptions by anybody who is interested in knowing about my candidature.

I wished to be a candidate for the Technology Students Elections - 2011 contesting for the post of General Secretary Sports and Games. Pursuant to the I got the nomination form and was diligent enough to fill it but I did not fill in the row number 5 stating - “Have you been ever been punished by the institute? If yes, provide details.” and row number 6 of the nomination form relating to seeking information stating “Have you repeated any academic year” as I was not subject to any punishment by the institute and also have not repeated any academic semester I did not fill in the details.

After that I came to know that my nomination form has got rejected because of the above reason stating my nomination form was incomplete. Considering the kind of hard work and the continuous effort I have put in for contesting for this position I gave an application to the appropriate authority requesting to reinstate my candidature and also seeking apology for the mistake I have committed. Pursuant to that the appropriate authority was very kind enough to admit my application subject to the condition that all the Halls and the candidates should agree by signing a ‘No Objection’. The other candidates Abhishek Negi from R.P hall, Pratyush Phatak from M.S. hall contesting for the same position objected for signing the No Objection failing to have a minimal courtesy of sportsmanship, but Nitesh Balal from Nehru Hall was very kind enough to sign the No Objection.

Adding to that except for R.P., R.K., M.S., Azad and S.N. halls and one more hall all the other halls signed the No-Objection.

Pursuant to that because of the objection raised by the above mentioned halls and the candidates my nomination form was rejected finally and I lost a chance of having a fair contesting opportunity. I wished that the persons who have objected for my contesting would have at least considered the true spirit of ‘Sports Man Ship’. But I promise that I shall strive to work hard for the cause of sports and games in the institute.
